World Show...done. Weaning baby horse....done. Ready for fall...absolutely!

In opposition to the naysayers, I know for certain the popularity of the Miniature horse is not diminishing. This was quite evident in the number of international guests that attended the World Show this year and reflected in the increased number of spectators that visited the AMHA booth. Over and over, couples, families and individuals would approach with questions about the breed. Where do they find horses to buy? How do can they learn to show or find a trainer in their area? Of course, we distributed the trusty Breeders List (every farm should be listed in this important pamphlet!) and steered them towards horses they could touch and pet. I've since heard from other members as well, there is no doubt the market is steady- especially for the smaller Miniatures who tend to lure people in with their cuteness! Throughout the week, gatherings and group meals kept World Show attendees involved and joining in the camaraderie that is the AMHA.

The upcoming holiday season is the perfect time to reflect and be thankful that we live in this great nation where like minded enthusiasts can gather to celebrate the versatility of the Miniature horse. Not only do we have the “Horse for Everyone” but we also have a place for everyone. Whether your passion is showing, therapy, pasture pet or avid driver, we want to help you showcase your Miniature. And this magazine is the best avenue to do so. Remember to gift someone a MHW subscription this year.

What is the Kentucky Breeders Incentive?

Since 2009, the Kentucky Breeders Incentive Fund and the

Kentucky Miniature Horse Breeders Club have helped horse

breeders raise quality horses, and given them the opportunity to win money with every point those horses earn at sanctioned shows. To be Kentucky bred, your stallion must stand the entire breeding season in Kentucky, the stallion and dam must both be nominated and the foal must be conceived and foaled in Kentucky to produce an eligible horse (and no, YOU aren’t required to be a Kentucky resident).

Kentucky Miniature Horse Breeders have won over $383,371 in incentive Awards!

Incentive fund payouts are based on this scale: 10% to the stallion owner- t 10% to the breeder or foal nominator- the breeder is the owner of the mare at the time of breeding, and 80% to the owner or owners of the nominated foal. If a nominated foal is sold, each owner will receive remuneration for the points earned under their ownership. And if you buy a Kentucky bred foal, you will receive money each time that nominated foal is shown at an AMHA approved show and earns AMHA points, until that horse is fifteen years of age!

Come join the fun and earn some money while you show!
