Editors Notes
It's the good ol' summertime again! I personally enjoy the first few days of a Texas summer, but then, like a baked potato...I'm done!
Horse ownership this time of year can be a bit redundant. The horses enjoy basking (sweating) in the sun for hours, then to cool off they alternate between a sand bath or a dip in the slimy pond (where they wallow up to their ears to escape the flying pests). The result is an evening routine of rinse and reapply, and with more than several in your herd, the process can be pretty time consuming. As a fellow horseman, it's likely a ritual you are all too familiar with. Ah, but once the sun goes down, there is unmatched tranquility as the horses graze on the fresh grass and the temps drop to a comfortable warmth that we can only enjoy this time of year.
While on the subject of keeping your horse comfortable, we stumbled upon some great tips for your use in this edition, so don't skip any pages! Read this E version all the way through for summer survival tips and tricks.
