2018 Miniature Horse World Magazine January E-Magazine | Page 4

Editors Notes

2018 began with a cold snap for most of us in the US. I quickly realized how unprepared I was for below freezing temps and extreme wind chills. It is no small chore to haul warm water from the house with 4 equines and multiple barn dwellers who depend on me as their fresh water source. It's been an interesting few days and I'm so thankful for the fickle Texas weather that changes constantly! If you're not so lucky I do feel your pain. Horsekeeping in winter is indeed challenging.

I received a photo of expectant mom, Gentle Delight Tulip, from Charlene Sterken which illustrates the extreme anticipation many of us are feeling as the baby bellies continue to blossom.

It diminishes the frozen finger pain and uncomfortable wet feet just imagining the beautiful baby that is cradled comfortably inside.

If you are considering breeding your mare this year, be sure and shop the Stallion Directory featured in this issue and posted on the AMHA website all year long. There are MANY great stallions available at reasonable rates- one that might be a perfect match for your mare.

If you love looking at photos of beautiful Mini-atures, this issue will captivate you!

The winners of this year's Best of Show Photo Contest are featured here. Thank you to each entrant and for the great prizes given by Cavallo Inc, Mr. Mike's Mini Tack Shack, Kendra Gale, author of the Big Book of Miniature Horses, and Trailmaster Bareback Pads.

Until next time...warm thoughts for Spring!
