and me, and it gave us both a confidence
in God that He was with us even when it
didn’t seem that way. Skip a Star’s win stirred
up such a controversy that the American
Miniature Horse Association enacted a rule
dubbed “The Skip A Star Rule.” This rule
required a certain amount of time between
the last qualifying show and the National
Show. You could no longer qualify at a show
two days before the Nationals.
After this win there were some dramatic
changes in store for us. We went from being
a small “wanna-be” farm on the corner of
Parker Rd and San Gabriel Rd. in Plano,
Texas to an internationally renowned farm
known all over the United States and Canada.
We also shipped horses to Germany and
Sweden. All of this was done by the mercy
and grace of God.
This 31.25” son of the infamous
Roan Ranger, Skip A Star, went
on to sire 87 foals.
One of many Wind
Song Farm ads that
ran in Minature Horse
World.
You can Google “Skip A Star 1985 National
Grand Champion” and find images and
articles on him. He became one of the
foundation sires of the Miniature horse
industry, and his bloodlines are still in
demand today.
We sold Skipper to a partnership formed
in spring of 1996, the group of breeders
wanted to stand him to the public and
produce more foals by him. Skipper lived
to the ripe age of twenty-eight at the
MCC Farms, Felix or Joyce Covington, in
Brenham,Texas.
I hope this testimony will inspire you to
trust God and seek out your impossible
dream. I believe that God puts dreams
in our hearts and uses them to train and
strengthen us to do His work. Jesus says in
Matthew 17:20 - “Truly I tell you, if you
have faith as small as a mustard seed, you
can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here
to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be
impossible for you.”
