THERE’S SOMETHING IN THE WAY Amanda Boulos, Round the Rouche We Go, 2015 Substitution and transformation are utilized as a way to confront missing memories due to forced migration. Using found footage of two different men from two different eras attempting to travel around the exact same Rouche (a natural monument in Beirut), Boulous’ work frames the actions as a metaphor for ‘the confusion that surrounded the Lebanese Civil War.’ Liz Knox, Something in the way, 2015 Composed of text found online of a fan’s interpretation of the Nirvana song of the same name, Knox’s work considers translation as a way to frame the personal and the distances between the popular and the intimate. Christina Battle is a media artist, writer, and independent curator. She has over 15 years experience as an artist, curator, arts administrator, and educator, and has been an active member of a number of communities including Toronto, San Francisco, and Denver, and currently London, ON.
