MARIETTA
Marietta is located approximately 15 minutes
southwest of downtown Shelbyville. This town
popped up several years ago as a railroad
town. The area is home to the Marietta
Community Volunteer Fire Department and
several churches.
The Southwestern Consolidated School
Corporation is located within this area.
Southwestern Junior/Senior High School and
Southwestern Elementary are conveniently
located in this district.
Established in 1828, Morristown was the third town
laid out in the Shelby County area. Located
between Greenfield and Shelbyville, the town of
approximately 1,200 residents has easy access
to State Road 9 and United States Highway 52.
Located just 30 minutes outside of Indianapolis,
Morristown is home to a strong industry base and a
great community.
Morristown is part of the Shelby Eastern School
district. Morristown Junior/Senior High School and
Morristown Elementary are home to the Morristown
Yellow Jackets.
WALDRON
Waldron sits approximately nine miles southeast
of downtown Shelbyville. The town is conveniently
located between Shelbyville and Greensburg
along Interstate 74. Established in 1854, the town
was originally named Stroupville after George
Stroup who laid out the land on the line of CI, St.
L and C railroad in Liberty Township. A petition to
change the town’s name to Waldron was drawn
up and later passed by legislature and the town
remains as Waldron today.
The area is home to several businesses and
churches and is located in the Shelby Eastern
School District. Waldron Elementary School and
Waldron Junior/Senior High School are home to
the Waldron Mohawks.
