There are three Shelby County Commissioners, one from each district in the county. They are
elected for a four-year term of office and have unlimited terms of office. The Commissioners are
the executive/legislative body of the county. A few of their duties are: controlling, maintaining
and supervising county property, supervising construction and maintenance of roads and
bridges, receiving bids and authorizing contracts. The three commissioners serve on the drainage
board and numerous other boards and committees.
