ADVANTAGE
SHELBY COUNTY
As the first program of its kind in Indiana, Advantage Shelby County is a collaboration
between city and county government and Ivy Tech Community College. The program
will provide scholarship funding to qualified Shelby County students to pay tuition costs
not covered by state, federal or institutional aid.
ABOUT ADVANTAGE SHELBY COUNTY
• Advantage Shelby County is a two-year college scholarship program specifically
aimed at raising educational attainment and workforce readiness in Shelby
County.
• Partnership between the City of Shelbyville, Shelby County, and Ivy Tech
Community College.
• Provides gap scholarship funding to Shelby County students to pay tuition costs not
covered by state, federal or institutional aid.
• In exchange for local support, students agree to perform 10 hours of volunteer
service per semester or fulfill a program work requirement with a Shelby County
company.
• Students will be assigned a local mentor to guide them on their educational path.
• Educate students in Shelby County to retain them in Shelby County.
ELIGIBILITY
• Students must maintain residency in Shelby County and satisfactory academic
progress
• Must be a graduate of a Shelby County High School beginning with the class of
2016
• Have a minimum 2.0 high school cumulative GPA
• Be considered college ready as determined by Ivy Tech Placement Standards at
www.ivytech.edu/assessment
• Enroll full-time in one of the
following programs:
-Advanced Automation and
Robotics Technology
-Transfer General Education Core
-General Studies
-Business Administration
-Approved Transfer Single Articulation

MAINTAINING ELIGIBILITY
Comply with Advantage Shelby County Pledge
Students must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress
Maintain residency in Shelby County through duration of scholarship
Complete annual scholarship renewal application.
Complete FAFSA by March 10 of each year
Submit verification of community service
Not be convicted of use of illegal drugs or a criminal act
Complete program within the allotted time frame
