The department developed and introduced a new training
and employee development guide that provides a formal
outline for career advancement. The career development
task book program is a performance-based system. This
system is one in which the primary criteria for qualification
involves individual performance as observed by an
evaluator using approved standards. These books contain
"approved standards" in the form of tasks, which have
been established by staff from various fire agencies and
organizations including the National Fire Protection
Association and International Fire Service Training
Association. Nineteen ask Books were completed by fire
personnel.
Renovations of the Southlake Fire West Facility were
completed. The improvements enhanced the safety and
security of the building with a larger community room,
updated offices, replacement of the air conditioning rooftop
units, as well as updated plumbing and electrical wiring. The
renovations also addressed the cosmetic and maintenance
issues caused by significant foundation movement.
