Ryan Kordek Polk TPO The Sidewalk Advisory Committee evaluates new sidewalk needs throughout Polk County and prioritizes projects for funding that are recommended to the Board of County Commissioners as part of the annual budgeting process. CANDIDATE SIDEWALK PROJECTS Sidewalk Advisory Committee meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month beginning in January and continue until the prioritized list of new sidewalk projects is finalized for submission to the Board prior to the annual budget hearings in September. Phase I – 10 Public Schools 59 Candidate Sidewalk Projects (23 miles) with an estimated cost of $8.7 Million 82 Candidate Sidewalk Projects (35 miles) with an estimated cost of $13.1 Million (More detailed analysis used to identify candidate sidewalk projects, e.g., fill in network gaps) Phase II – 20 Public Schools The Sidewalk Advisory Committee includes five public members appointed by the Polk County Board of County Commissioners; as well as four Roads & Drainage Division staff, and one representative each from the Polk Transportation Planning Organization (TPO), the Polk County School Board, and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
