FCCLA Helps With OkTOberfest

By Anna Peterson

The first annual OkTOberfest was held on Saturday, October 13, in honor of Tony Opbroek. There were many activities that took place there, all organized by the Community Club.

Main Street was blocked off and this is where the FCCLA chapter helped. FCCLA came up with a variety of fall activities and games. Some included bobbing for apples, pumpkin ring toss, painting pumpkins, and face painting.

The National Guard brought their Joust Pit and Bungee Run for the kids and FCCLA members ran that.

OkTOberfest went from 12:00-5:00, and it was a success. It was a chilly day, but everyone still enjoyed it.

"OkTOberfest was a huge success all around. I think all of the activities were very fun for the kids. It was a perfect day to honor Tony. Unfortunately, it was my first and only OkTOberfest to organize, but I am excited to hear about how it will go next year. I've already heard new ideas for the next OkTOberfest. I'm very happy with how it turned out this year, and I hope it continues to grow each year," FCCLA chapter president, Erika Van Nieuwenhuyse.
