Cougars Earn Another Home Victory
Once again, the Lady Cougars were on home turf against AC/DC. The game took place on October 9 and was another quick victory for the team in three sets. The scores were 25-19, 25-11, and 25-13.
Lahna Matucha totaled 7 aces while Bobbi Jo Wischmann had 4. Lahna also came up with 10 kills and 17 digs. Bobbi Jo also had 19 assists. Taylee Indahl accumulated 12 kills and 14 digs. Lainee Schonebaum racked up 13 digs.
Cougars and Gorillas Go Head to Head
The team hosted the Gregory Gorillas on October 11 for their annual Pink Pride fundraiser for breast cancer. The teams went three sets with the Cougars taking the victory. The scores were 25-23, 25-12, and 25-17.
Lahna Matucha totaled 10 kills for the night while Taylee Indahl and Brecken Bartling both had 9. Bobbi Jo Wischmann racked up 24 assists. Digs were led by Lainee Schonebaum with 15. Lahna totaled 14 digs and Taylee had 12.
Cougars Battle at the SESD Tournament
The team traveled to Tyndall on October 20 to participate in the SESD Tournament. The team played a total of four games, winning three and getting 2nd.
Their first game was a victory against Platte-Geddes with scores of 25-18, 23-25, and 25-14. Their second game was another victory against Gregory with scores of 25-6, 23-25, and 25-23. Next, the Lady Cougars played Wagner and suffered a loss in two sets with the scores of 19-25 and 22-25. They team's last game was against Winner and the Cougars emerged victorious. The scores were 16-25, 25-20, and 25-22.
Lahna Matucha had a good day with 6 aces, 30 kills, and 42 digs. Lainee Schonebaum ended the day with 40 digs. Taylee Indahl racked up 4 aces, 52 kills, and 57 digs. Bobbi Jo Wischmann ended up with 7 aces and 78 assists.
Cougars Face Off Against Raiders
The Lady Cougars made the trip to Wagner on October 22 to play the Wagner Raiders. The team fought hard but lost in four sets with scores of 17-25, 25-18, 16-25, and 20-25.
Leading in kills was Taylee Indahl with 18. Taylee also had 4 aces and 10 digs. Lahna Matucha came up with 5 aces. Lainee Schonebaum totaled 22 digs. Sierra Swan had 9 digs.
Cougars End Regular Season With a Win
The team's last regular season game took place at home on October 23. They played the Lyman Raiders and came out on top in three sets. The scores were 25-16, 25-13, and 25-16.
Bobbi Jo Wischmann had 4 aces and 28 assists. Lahna Matucha came up with 11 kills for the night. Taylee Indahl totaled 16 kills and 10 digs. Also with 10 digs was Lainee Schonebaum. Sierra Swan had 8 kills.
"We have had a great regular season and we are going to start playing the best volleyball we can in post season," said Senior, Lahna Matucha.
