Fourth Graders Bolt Into he New Year

By Anna Peterson

To start off their year, the 4th graders have been getting acrostics and camping poems ready for Bolts.

They also had a water balloon toss with Mr. Person and Mr. Sanderson on the first day of school. Right now, they are learning place value in math and subject/predicate in English.

Transitioning Third Grade

By Mandy Frank

This year the 3rd grade class has a whole new look to our classroom. We have rid ourselves of traditional student desks, and have incorporated the transition to flexible seating. Currently the 3rd grade class is utilizing student-friendly tables, a “carpet area” for whole group instruction, a “standing” table for students who would rather stand than sit, and of course an inviting classroom library. Flexible seating is one of many new transitions the education system is awakening to, and Mrs. Frank has decided to jump on board. She hopes to incorporate wiggle seats, bean bags, video rocker chairs, etc. to her learning environment here in the next year couple of years, as she needs to adjust to the changes as well.  And we can’t forget the new and improved technology that has been added as well…a NEW active board which allows (and is encouraged) to increase student involvement with instructional routines and procedures. This allows them to take more ownership over their learning.

Fifth Graders Get Treated

By Anna Peterson

Kathy Petersen has come in to the 5th graders to read them books and bring them treats. They have been working on random acts of kindness to go with the book she read them.
