Lady Cougars Crush the Coyotes

The Burke Lady Cougars went head to head with the Jones County Coyotes on December 11. It seems that the Cougars had the home court advantage as both JV and Varsity took the win. The final score for JV was 26 - 18, and the final score for Varsity was 63 - 29.
For JV, the leading scorers were Adisyn Indahl with 10 and Elenna Koenig with 6. Leading in rebounds was also Adisyn Indahl with 3.
In the Varsity game, Taylee Indahl was leading scorer, totaling 25 points. Sally Hakin racked up a total of 16 points and 7 rebounds. Matching Hakin in rebounds was Lahna Matucha. The Cougars shot 52% from the field with 28 out of 54 shots made. The team also made 5 out of 7 free throws.
Cougars Struggle Against Thunder
The Lady Cougars hosted the AC/DC Lady Thunder on January 3. The JV girls managed to steal a victory while the Varsity girls were not as fortunate. The final score for the JV game was 26 - 25 and the final score for the varsity game was 49 - 53.
The top scorers for the JV girls team were Ramee Hanson, with 9 points, and Elly Witt, with 6 points. The JV girls racked up 13 rebounds, 5 of which belonged to Adisyn Indahl. The team also total 4 steals for the game which were thanks to Hanson and Indahl.
The leading scorers for Varsity girls were Lacey Person, 15; Taylee Indahl, 11; and Sally Hakin, 11. The team totaled 16 rebounds with Bobbi Jo Wischmann adding her 5. Sally Hakin racked 3 steals for the game.
Lady Cougars Tear Apart the Tornadoes
The Burke Lady Cougars were once again at home to face the Centerville Tornadoes on January 4. It was a great night for the Cougars with both JV and Varsity teams winning their games. The score for JV was 39 - 13, and the score for Varsity was 57 - 22.
In the JV game, the leading scorers were Elly Witt, Adisyn Indahl, and Elenna Koenig. Witt and Indahl had 6 points each and Koenig had 5. The team totaled a whopping 25 rebounds during the four quarters. They shot 51% from the field, making 18 out of 35 shots.
For Varsity the top scorers were Taylee Indahl, 21; Bobbi Jo Wischmann, 12; and Lahna Matucha, 10. The team totaled 33 rebounds. Taylee Indahl contributed 7 rebounds while Sierra Swan and Bobbi Jo Wischmann each added 6. The team also racked up 19 steals.
Cougars Conquer the Cowgirls
The girls basketball team traveled to Colome on January 10 to face off against the Colome Cowgirls. The Burke Lady Cougars had a great day with both JV and Varsity teams coming out on top. The scores for the JV were 31 - 27, and the scores for the Varsity were 61 - 31.
In the JV game, Elly Witt was top scorer with a total of 13, and Ramee Hanson was right behind her with a total of 10. Elenna Koenig had 9 rebounds. The team shot 56% from the free throw line, making 5 out of 9.
Top scorers for Varsity girls were Taylee Indahl and Sally Hakin, both with 12. Bobbi Jo Wischmann, Lacey Person, and Lahna Matucha also racked up 10 points each. The team shot 46% from the field, making 24 out of 52, and 69% from the free throw line, making 11 out of 16.
