High School Students Attend Vocal Contest

High school students attended a vocal contest in Kimball under the direction of Rachelle Stephens February 6. The students competing were Brock Karbo, Kaleb Wells, Haley Benter, and Bobbi Jo Wischmann.

Haley Benter sang a solo called "Caro Mio Ben" by Giordanni and scored a 28/30. Bobbi Jo Wischmann also perform a solo called "The Water is Wide" and scored a 25/30. Brock Karbo and Kaleb Wells performed a vocal duet of a Scottish folk song called "Loch Lomand." They scored a 31/35.

"It was a very successful day with all being strong performances," commented Mrs. Stephens.

Middle School Students Host Dinner Theater

The middle school students hosted a dinner theater on February 15 in the high school gym under the direction of Mrs. Thiry. The Music Boosters started off by feeding a dinner of soup, sandwiches and a dessert bar to the audience. Then the students performed the musical "The Castaways."

"The setting of the musical was 1900 New York during the Orphan Train years. Several students made up the cast of orphans who were trying to hide from authorities to avoid being transported west to find a home. Ultimately, hunger and desperation made them give up and take the train out west," stated Mrs. Thiry.

High School Students Attend Band Contest

High school students attended a band contest in Chamberlain under the direction of Rachelle Stephens on February 20. The students who competed were Megyn McCarthy and Heidi Gonzalez.

Megyn McCarthy performed a clarinet solo called "Bouree" by George Frideric Handel. She scored a 22. Heidi Gonzalez performed a piano solo called "Time" and scored a 27.
