26 Woodbury County Fair Section 100 – CORN All entries will consist of last year’s crop, except for current year sweet corn. Entries will consist of five ears. Remove husks from all corn entries. 10001 Yellow dent 10006 Popcorn, yellow 10002 Indian corn 10007 Popcorn, strawberry 10003 Miniature corn 10008 Any other corn 10004 Sweet corn 10005 Popcorn, white Entries in the following will consist of single ears, remove the husks. 10009 Yellow dent – last year 10010 Yellow dent – current year 10011 Tallest stalk of corn with ears. Requires the entire plant, roots included. Place bottom in a plastic bag and add small amount of water. Section 101 – GRAINS One gallon specimen samples should be cleaned of foreign material and sorted for uniformity. Grains maturing after fair week may be shown the following year. Containers will be provided. One-gallon sample needed. 10101 Brome 10105 Soybeans 10102 Corn, yellow 10106 Wheat 10103 Oats 10107 Other 10104 Sorghum Section 102 – FORAGE SHEAVES Forage sheaves should retain foliage, and must be cured for usefulness as hay. Sheaf to be three inches in diameter at center band. 10201 Alfalfa 10205 Oats 10202 Blue grass 10206 Sorghum 10203 Brome 10207 Timothy 10204 Clover, red 10208 Other Section 103 – SEED SHEAVES Seed sheaves should be cut flush with the ground and show maturity of the seed. Sheaf to be three inches in diameter at center band. Seeds maturing after Fair week may be shown the following year. 10301 Blue Grass 10305 Rye 10302 Brome 10306 Wheat 10303 Oats 10307 Other 10304 Sorghum Section 104 – POTATOES Potatoes will be shown in provided trays of five specimens of each kind. Do not wash, but brush free of mud and dirt. Uniformity and blemish free are points to look for when selecting specimens. Suggestion, harvest when ground is dry and store in a dark area.
