Entry Categories: Beef Pork Combo/Specialty Poultry People’s Choice (Woodbury County Competition Only) Rules: A contestant may participate as an individual or a team. The contestant must furnish equipment, including the grill and all supplies for their entry. Contestants may begin setting up and cooking at any time after 9:00 pm on Saturday on Rock Lane (north side of Beef Barn). Marinating in advance is acceptable; however, all meats must be cooked entirely on site. Contestants interested in going to the Iowa State Fair who plan to prepare Beef are limited to the following cuts; chuck or round primal cuts including ground chuck or ground round. Contestants may use any cut of Beef for the County Only Cookout. Contestants will be judged in the following areas: Taste, Appearance, and Originality. Showmanship Contestants will be scored on: Use of a side dish, Contestant’s apparel, Chef’s Knowledge of the product, Consumer Appeal, and Overall Appearance. Each contestant will prepare three judge’s sample plates and 150 samples for the People’s Choice Competition, if you choose to participate. Pre-registration is required by July 29, 2017 by filling out the entry form available on the www.woodburycountyfair.com website or the Woodbury County Fair Office. LIVESTOCK BONUS SALE Saturday, August 5, 2017 – 8:30 a.m. – Show Ring Superintendents Jennifer Beeson - 712.898.2903 Jennifer O'Connell - 712.253.8724 Dee McKenna - 712.635.6868 A Bonus Sale will be held at the Fairgrounds on Saturday, August 5, 2017 for market beef, breeding heifers, market swine, sheep, Boer meat goats, six class rabbits, and market poultry. Each exhibitor is invited bonus one animal. The bonus is intended to help 4-H and FFA members reinvest in their future livestock projects. Senior High School Woodbury County 4-H and FFA members and younger may enter the Bonus Sale. Woodbury County 4-H and FFA members who wish to take an animal through the Bonus Sale must sign up at the 4-H office at the fairgrounds by 10:00 A.M. on Friday, August 4, 2017 for swine, poultry, goat, and sheep. The sign up for beef and rabbits must be within one half hour of these shows. Livestock will go through the Bonus Sale in their ribbon group. Champion and Reserve Champion animals and showmanship winners will go through first. The Bonus Committee will mail checks once all buyers have paid in full.
