Woodbury County Fair
Come sit a spell in the Peiro Church , built in 1878 Grant Township residents worshiped in this church until 1966 . Blunk House serves as the parsonage to our " Old Town " Church and houses craftsmanship of the era . The Gazebo is another quiet spot to sit and visit away from the hustle and bustle of the main fairgrounds . The Old Glory Dance Hall previously stood beside the Antique Building here on the fairgrounds . The east block of " Old Town " is completed with the Depot ; you can find actual train track and platform bricks when you visit ' Pepper Junction .' Cross the street again and you can step into the " Old Town " Post Office . The Little Egypt School contains post office furniture removed from the post office in Haverhill , IA . The Marshall ' s office houses jail cells , which once served as a confinement place for those who were unruly in the town of Pierson . The Sadler House contains many vignettes depicting life in the early days of Woodbury County . Bollin Stable serves as the Livery Barn and houses the Meyer Petting Zoo during the fair . Come watch Blair Smith " The Chainsaw Sculptor create woodcarvings that will be auctioned off on Sunday of the fair . Bring your children and grandchildren to play old-fashioned games , take in a show , or take a spin around the pedal farm . Come experience days of yesterday in Woodbury County Fair ' s " Old Town ".
New in Old Town for 2017 Mr . Nick : Balloon Artist & Humorist : - Mr . Nick will be visiting Old Town this year with his exciting , silly , fun , wacky and down right ridiculous Variety Show which is sure to be a hit for the whole family ! Looking for a good laugh ? Be sure to stop out and check out one of Mr . Nick ' s Variety Shows on Thursday thru Saturday of the fair . When he ' s not doing a show you will find Mr . Nick nestled in a shady spot around Old Town creating balloon creations of all types for the children to take as a souvenir from their day at the fair .
Corey Fravel ' Magic Man ': - Woodbury Counties own local Magician Corey Fravel will join us in Old Town on Friday thru Sunday this year to entertain fairgoers with a number of card and sleight-of-hand tricks . Corey has been thrilling audiences of both the young and old since he began performing when he was still just in middle school . Come on out and witness the magic right before your eyes !
The ZooMobile : We are bringing the Zoo to you ! The Great Plains Zoo & Delbridge Museum of Natural History out of Sioux Falls , SD will be visiting us on Wednesday , August 2nd with their ZooMobile . They will hold two shows featuring unique animals from around the globe bringing science and nature into your world ! Stop out for a fun , educational experience and meet some of their animal friends .
Net or Wet Basketball Shoot-out Returns : Grab a partner and come on out for some old fashioned fun . Lets shoot some hoops ! Old Town will be hosting the " Net or Wet Shoot-out " again on Sunday , August 6th beginning at 12:30 p . m . This will be a double elimination tournament . Two teams of two will shoot against each other . One player on each team will be the shooter while the other player patiently awaits his or her fate setting beneath the water bucket lingering overhead . The team to make their basket first will win the bracket and stay dry -- at the same time the basket will trip the opposing teams bucket causing one of the opponents players to get soaked and in turn move them into the losers bracket . Tournament is open to all ages with no age division of play . Partners can sign up in Old Glory Dance Hall thru Saturday , August 5th . Players must find their own partners . All skill levels welcome , this is just for fun as long as you are willing to chance getting soaked ! Boyfriends / Girlfriends , Parent / Child , Siblings , Friends this is your chance to settle the score !
