2017 Walkway Marathon Digital Race Packet 2017DigitalRacePacket | Page 18

Dear race participant, Welcome to the Third Annual Walkway Marathon. What a terrific job Sue O’Neil did along with the entire Walkway staff and all the great volunteers last year! Not only was I able to attend the Marathon and help out with handing out the awards, but I also spent the day before at the Expo promoting the Mid Hudson Road Runners Club and The Dutchess County Classic coming up in September. The Think Differently Dash on Saturday went extremely well. The Mid Hudson Road Runners Club has been a great advocate of both competitive running and running for people of all ages who are looking to improve their health and fitness. Our mission completely supports the Walkway’s efforts to get people out and about walking, running, biking or just enjoying the wonderful resources we have utilizing the Walkway bridge and the rail trails. It looks like 2016-2017 was a very successful time for the Walkway with attendance up for the year. We are truly fortunate to have this three-race event involving so many great people and organizations. As President of The Mid Hudson Road Runners Club, I have spent over eleven years promoting health and fitness for children and adults of all ages. This event is the culmination of so many people’s vision for the same thing. From the Walkway Over The Hudson organization’s Executive Elizabeth Waldstein-Hart, to County Executive Marc Molinaro, to Dutchess County Tourism President and CEO Mary Kay Vrba. Health Quest has also been a very strong proponent of running in the Hudson Valley as a strong sponsor for both the Walkway Marathon and all the races throughout the year at MHRRC, It’s a great way to meet and support thousands of people through advertising and social media. I hope you have a great race! Please visit The Mid Hudson Road Runners website at www.mhrrc.org for a list of many races held throughout the year. I am thrilled at the growth of the running community throughout the Hudson Valley Region! There are more racing events throughout the Hudson Valley than ever before. Also visit our Facebook page for so much information on running in the area. Sincerely, Keith Axelrod President, Mid Hudson Road Runners Club Race Director, The Dutchess County Classic 0 6 .1 1 .2 017 WALKWAY MARATHON IN PARTNERSHIP WITH DUTCHESS COUNTY GOVERNMEN
