The Leaf River, located on the far northern
part of the Quebec’s Ungava Peninsula, is
teeming with huge brook trout, lake trout,
and Atlantic Salmon. These rivers are virtu-
ally unfished, and a catch and release policy
insures the quality of the fishery for genera-
tions to come. Comfortable cabins, and a nice
lodge, with home cooked meals, await you at
the end of a great day’s fishing. Brook trout
here will run 2-6 pounds, lake trout in the 4-
10 pound range (some much larger), and the
salmon are typically 8-20 pounds. If you have
never hooked into an Atlantic Salmon, you
are in for one of angling’s great treats. The
brook trout in these arctic waters are ar-
guably one of the world’s most beautiful fish.
