SKILL LEVEL : II - III
CONCEPT : Transform your ideas from the digital to the physical world in an engaging workshop that leverages the parametric design tool , Grasshopper . Parametric design and digital fabrication represent the blending of the digital and physical , and offer extraordinary new avenues in design and new media . Students use 3-D printing , laser cutting and CNC milling to rapidly craft and manifest their designs . Emphasis is on learning and experimentation as students learn Grasshopper , and bring their ideas to life with the newest innovations in technology .
MEDIA & TECHNIQUES : Students participate in lessons on basic CAD drawing , modeling and form finding in Rhino3D . We also explore parametric design , pattern making and advanced form finding in Grasshopper ; basic algorithmic design with python ; and cutting , printing and milling with digital fabrication tools in plastic , wood and foam .
ACTIVITIES : This class is very hands-on . We will have brief introductory lectures on digital fabrication , parametric design , programming and fabrication . Then students participate in participatory workshops to learn and experiment , mixed with one-on-one work time .
FACULTY : Jordan C . Parsons is a technologist whose work attempts to bridge software and hardware . He is always learning and exploring the space between the digital and physical worlds . Jordan is currently the Lead Developer at Iontank where he works on interactive installations and artworks across a variety of media .

SKILL LEVEL : II - III
CONCEPT : Develop and hone your personal vision , and then learn how to effectively sculpt and share your narrative on social media . We focus on fine tuning technique , expanding our skill set , and then sharing our work through social media . Students learn to simplify their photographic skills , using only one digital camera with one lens , or a smartphone or laptop . We emphasize relying on our instinct , our eye and our heart .
MEDIA & TECHNIQUES : All you need is a digital camera with one lens . A smartphone and a laptop are also great tools to have , but not required . Leave the bag of gear at home . Photography is about simplifying . We focus on honing a variety of techniques through practice .
ACTIVITIES : We work and see every day , with an aim to surprise ourselves and go beyond personal expectations . Students learn from slide presentations , individual and group discussions and field trips . Each student works on an individual project , either an ongo ing body of work or discovering new pathways .
FACULTY : Landon Nordeman photographs fine art projects and works for commercial and editorial clients around the world . American Photography , Communication Arts , Pictures of the Year International , The PDN Photo Annual , The Center for Documentary Studies and PDN ’ s 30 have all commended his work . Landon ’ s photographs have been exhibited at The Howard Greenberg Gallery in New York City and The Ullens Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing among other venues , and are in the collections of The Museum of Fine Arts , Houston and The Columbus Museum of Art .

SKILL LEVEL : Open to All
CONCEPT : Take your portraits to the next level in a weekend workshop designed for any photographer who wants to feel more confident in his or her ability to photograph people . Through slide presentations and portfolio reviews , students are exposed to great examples of successful portraits , and gain tools to help create their own memorable portraits of people . Working with DSLR cameras , lighting and Adobe Lightroom , we explore the vast possibilities of this quintessential photographic craft . Participants should bring a digital portfolio of their favorite work that includes eight to ten images .
MEDIA & TECHNIQUES : Students use digital SLR cameras , lighting and Adobe Lightroom .
ACTIVITIES : Students enjoy lectures on the history of portrait photography , and demonstrations that increase understanding of the components necessary to make strong , iconic portraits . Guided by the instructor , students photograph on location with models to master ways to use available light to create strong portraits . One-on-one instructor feedback is also provided .
FACULTY : Joyce Tenneson ' s work has been shown in over 150 exhibitions worldwide , and is part of numerous private and museum collections . Her photographs have appeared on countless covers for magazines such as Time , Life , Entertainment Weekly , Newsweek and The New York Times Magazine . She is also the author of 15 books . Joyce has received numerous awards , including the International Center of Photography ' s Infinity Award and the 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Professional Photographers of America . In addition , she has been named " Photographer of the Year " by the international organization , Women in Photography .
