STANSW Branches

There has been limited communication with branches in 2017 . To provide an improved cooperation between STANSW and its branches , STANSW new governance model has developed a Branches Portfolio . Some contact was made with rural schools in south NSW and also Cessnock area .
STANSW online systems – XEN Connect
The XEN management system is now operating for all our membership and events management . Teachers can register for events online and maintain a record of their professional learning in their own portal . We continually work to improve the system and thank Stefan Biermann for his continuing efforts to develop the best product for our members .

STANSW reps : Margaret Shepherd / Jim Sturgiss As your representatives on the PTC Board , we provide a voice of Science teachers through STANSW . The PTC has had another successful year in its new office in Auburn at the beginning of the year with a move to new premises in St Hilliers Road Lidcombe at the end of the year . PTC provide a range of services for STANSW and its members : − PTC advocacy with NESA , Department of Education , Catholic Education , Association of Independent
Schools
− Influence on state-wide policy formulation e . g . development of NSWIT Teaching Standards and the subsequent Australian Professional Standards for Teachers ; input of PTC in formulation of Minister ' s Great Teaching Inspired learning ( GTIL ) − Representation on NESA and DoE committees , working parties including syllabus committee − Heavily subsidised secretariat services ( including BAS ) − Opportunities for networking with Board members of other association e . g . PTC Forums and Presidents
Dinner − NESA accreditation for PL courses at highly accomplished level − Promotion of member associations on PTC website and through PTC Calendar of Professional Learning
Courses being run by member associations and PTC All Schools Fax out service − PTC PLUS promotion of the associations in schools and involvement in PTC PLUS PL activities that will generate income to associations − Awards for Outstanding Services at PTC Presentation evening
Through PTC , member associations have representation on APTA : − Nomination for prestigious national APTA awards − PTC professional learning courses for association office bearers and Board members − PTC can book venue facilities at ACU and IEU for member associations at a reasonable fee
