CHECKLIST FOR A SUCCESSFUL HUNTING
TRIP IN SUNSET COUNTRY
ITEM # 2 - AMMUNITION
You are allowed to bring in up to 200 rounds of ammunition into On-
tario with you. The ammunition should be stored separately or locked
up. It can be stored in the same locked container as the firearms.
ITEM # 3 – TRANSPORTING FIREARMS
Your firearms must be properly encased and a secure locking device,
such as a trigger lock or cable lock, should be attached so the firearms
cannot be fired.
ITEM # 4 – PROHIBITED WEAPONS
Never bring a prohibited weapon such as a handgun, modified rifle or
automatic weapon into Canada.

If you’ve never hunted in Ontario’s Sunset Country and you’ve now
booked your trip, then here’s a checklist of things to remember and
plan for to ensure you’ll have a great time:
ITEM # 1 – REGISTERING YOUR FIREARM
During hunting season, there’s usually no issues bringing your weap-
on(s) of choice with you but remember that you are required to regis-
ter your firearm with Canada Customs. This involves paying a registra-
tion fee and filling out Canadian Firearms Declaration Form. Please fill
out the form beforehand.
ITEM # 5 – PLACES TO GET ANSWERS TO YOUR QUESTIONS
For more information on importing your firearms into Canada, you

ITEM # 6 – HAVE FUN!
Following Items 1 through 5 on this checklist will ensure that you have
a completely hassle-free experience bringing your guns into Canada.
