CONTACT INFO:
ichellene Davis, Esq., is the Executive
Vice President and Chief Corporate
Affairs Officer, RWJBarnabas Health.
The Social Impact and Community Investment
Practice, which she leads, is championing the
transformation of RWJBarnabas Health from an
organization that primarily treats people when they are
ill to one that helps keep populations well. Recognizing
that health and social inequities are directly linked,
the Practice addresses the non-clinical factors that
affect health outcomes - like economic stability,
educational attainment, and access to affordable
healthy food and safe housing. The mission is to work
with our communities to foster health-promoting
environments and conditions for the long-term
well-being of the residents. RWJBarnabas Health is
determined to formulate effective strategies, mobilize
the right resources and identify the appropriate partners
to produce the change necessary to improve health.
The Practice is focused on vulnerable populations.
As a result, RWJBarnabas Health has partnered
with the City of Newark in Mayor Ras J. Baraka’s
Hire. Buy. Live. Local Newark initiative to transform
the economic future of Newark, its neighborhoods
and residents. Newark 2020 is the hiring arm of
this program to promote economic stability in
Newark by hiring 2,020 Newark residents by the
year 2020. Among other endeavors, RWJBH has
committed to hiring 350 fulltime and part-time-
with-benefits individuals, recognizing the importance
of employment as a social determinant of health.
Ms. Davis, an honors graduate of Seton Hall
University and recipient of a Juris Doctorate from
Seton Hall Law School, drives the institution to
better embrace its anchor mission for the benefit of
the communities we serve.
