president’s message
“Life is like riding a bicycle,
to keep your balance
you must keep moving forward”
– Albert Einstein
by Joe Kahre
I
have thought long and hard on just what
to present to you in this message. My
mind has changed many times on perti-
nent topics, situations, and matters. Then
this Einstein quote fell into my lap. (Could
Einstein also have had a part in this with his
theory of gravity?) It made me stop to re-
read and think it through. I quickly went to
my thoughts of AMHA, where we currently
are and where we are headed.
The concept of change is scary to many
people. I will veer away from that verbiage
but want to think of it as progressive evolu-
tion of who and what we are as a group
and that we are passionate about these little
horses on many different levels. The world
around us, life situations, demographics,
and forms of communication are not at all
what they were even 5-10 years ago.
We have altered, added, tweaked so
many things in the last year to make things
BETTER for the majority of our members.
I am stunned to hear members say “Well,
we didn’t know that.” Media sources for
distribution of information have advanced
rapidly. You will find that our wonderful
office staff is constantly providing updates
and information making them readily avail-
able for all to read in many forms. Access to
information IS there.
Ask yourself these questions: Are you a
follower of the AMHA Facebook page? Do
you know we are on Twitter? Have you
made sure you are on the email list for the
very informative E-Blasts? We have an on-
line magazine that contains lots of informa-
tion in addition to the printed version. Do
you know about the measurement require-
ment alterations for this World Show? Do
you know we have changed stalling/arenas
at Will Rogers for Worlds? Do you know
the procedure for hardshipping? Have you
seen the fee adjustments? Do you know
who your regional director is and how to
contact them? Do you know that we were
able to get our annual meeting moved from
February to the last weekend in October
and this year it will be held in Kansas City,
Missouri? Do you know that we now have
Alison Stonecypher who is our new Manager
of Operations in the office? Do you know
about the Mini Benefits program? Are you
enrolled in our Mini Hours Program?
As I remember in confirmation class
many years ago the words: “Read, Mark,
Learn and Inwardly Digest.” Doing this will
keep you in the light of what is going on.
All of this has been made available and is
out there. I ask you to please be responsible
for knowing the information so that it can
best help you as one of our members. These
and MANY more things are in the making to
help us surge forward with pride and success.
Stay tuned!
We are moving forward, pedaling…..
while it often seems as though we are pedal-
ing against the wind, up the hill, and into
the torrents of rain, please rest assured we
ARE moving. We are going forward, and
we are keeping our balance with this special
collection of 34” and under small equine,
our members and our association are at the
forefront of our destination to excellence and
success. Help us pedal. Help us evolve and
be a part of great things happening. It takes
all of us! And I KNOW we need all of your
help. Be positive and pedal. When you are
doing this, the fears of losing balance and
falling should go right out the window.

Thank you to Ashley Harris!
Your loyalty and devotion
to AMHA is noticed and
now recognized. The
determination and effort
you put forth to make sure
that AMHA was represented
at the Ohio Equine Affair,
plus the countless hours you
spend answering questions
and helping those new to
Miniature horses is more than appreciated. You are an
example of how ALL our members should be working to
build and support the American Miniature Horse and its
Association. THANK YOU! Keep up your good work, and
know that it is valued.
