MEET OUR NEW

BOARD MEMBER

By: Amanda Hanrahan & Nolan Smith

Nolan Smith

Financial Officer

Nickname: None at the moment, but he would like one...

Years in club: 3

Greatest hurling memory: Scoring my first weak-side point last year against Ale House.

How did you become Fnancial Officer: I had expressed interest in getting involved with the board last year, but did not attend elections this year. Jason had reached out to me after Mike Hamby stepped down and asked if I were still interested in the Financial Chair position. I told him I would be glad to help the board and the club in this position.

Financial Experience: I have a Bachelors Degree from St. Norbert College in Accounting and 4 years of accounting experience.

What is one thing you are most looking forward to this season as the Financial Officer? I am looking forward to helping the club with its bookkeeping, providing financial reports to the board for analysis and help maintain the clubs budget for gear, field rental expenses and any other expenses that come up.

What are you looking forward to in the MHC? For the club in general, I am looking forward to the next couple of years to see us grow as a club. Being on the board has given me a different perspective on the club, one that not only has me in an important role in the club finance-wise, but also one that allows me to get to know everyone in the club, from booster members, to youth and adult players, and to our sponsors. It has helped me gain a much higher level of appreciation for what people have done for the club from volunteer work on game days to fundraising events. It encourages me to know that I am part of something great, and I will continue to support this club however I can.

Random Fact: I love to grill!
