Awareness Day media partner NBC4 Washington engaged its 10 NBCUniversal sister stations and 16 Telemundo stations in livestreaming the national event webcast . NBC4 Washington staff also actively promoted the national event through a digital strategy campaign , including a homepage takeover of the website , a social takeover on Facebook and Twitter , and PSAs featuring Michael Phelps and Allison Schmitt . For the second year in a row , NBC4 Washington morning anchor Aaron Gilchrist served as the national event host and moderator and was active on social media to promote the Awareness Day Washington , DC , event on May 4 .
The Society of Clinical Child & Adolescent Psychology ( SCCAP ) provided a child psychologist to serve as a subjectmatter expert to field questions from audience members , both in person and online . SCCAP also promoted evidencebased prevention programs and techniques for assessing and understanding the behavioral and mental health of children and adolescents by hosting a webinar on May 5 .
The American Psychological Association hosted a Twitter chat , “ Why Integrated Care Is Good for Children ’ s Mental Health ,” on May 1 , 2017 , which was co-hosted by SAMHSA , the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry , the American Psychiatric Association , The Jed Foundation , the National Council for Behavioral Health , and ZERO TO THREE . The Twitter chat discussed how primary care and behavioral health providers , youth , and families can work together to integrate care for children ’ s mental health and emphasized the benefits associated with a whole health approach . On the evening of May 4 , the National Council for Behavioral Health hosted an opportunity for networking at a sponsor-supported reception for guests attending the Washington , DC , event . The networking reception allowed senior leaders from the primary care and behavioral health fields , youth , and families to come together to discuss the importance of integrated care and helped spread the message of help and hope to different audiences .
Thanks in large part to the national collaborating organizations , Awareness Day had a tremendous presence on social media , and the theme “ Partnering for Help and Hope ” spread nationwide .
