Awareness Day 2017 received some of
the observance’s most high-profile and
extensive national media coverage to
date. Coverage ranged from interviews
with Honorary Chairpersons Phelps and
Schmitt to featured profiles of the young
adult and family leaders on their local
television networks and in their local
newspapers. Numerous respected trade
publications wrote pieces on the findings
from SAMHSA’s data report. There
also was extensive pickup of the press
releases for the event in Washington, DC.

to promote the Washington, DC, event and
