2017 ANNUAL REPORT College of Physical Therapists of British Columbia CPTBC AR 2017 - Page 6

BOARD CHAIR + REGISTRAR REPORT 2017 was a year of transition. Brenda Hudson retired after 13 years as Registrar. Dianne Millette assumed the Registrar role in May 2017. Despite the transition we moved forward with our strategic initiatives, particularly those related to stakeholder engagement. The CPTBC continued with its core regulatory activities that are described elsewhere in this report. As always, there are additional achievements as listed on the previous page. One very special event occurred on March 1, when the CPTBC joined 22 other health regulatory agencies in signing a Declaration of Commitment to advance cultural safety and humility in the delivery of health services to First Nations and Aboriginal people in British Columbia. Signing this declaration reflects our commitment to actions and processes that promote culturally safe practices for indigenous people within all levels of regulation at the CPTBC. There is much work to do to advance this agenda; it will continue to be a priority of the CPTBC in 2018. This work is not possible without our dedicated team of board members, committee chairs and members, staff, registrants and public individuals who give generously of their time. Thank you to each person who contributes to the work of the CPTBC and believes in the value of regulation in the public interest. Your collective efforts enable the CPTBC to continue inspiring public confidence. Heather Leslie Dianne Millette Board Chair Registrar 6 College of Physical Therapists of British Columbia
