Shaw Bowling 2017-2018

By: Cadence Chesterman

The Shaw bowling has seen a lot of success in the past years. In 2009, a state championship was won and the year following the Eagles were a State Runner-Up. Each and every season after that has seen a playoff berth.

The 2016 season was the best record the team had seen of 13-2, both losses came to the same team, Brother Martin. This past year the Eagles were 10-3, and were eliminated by the Crusaders once again. I, now Captain of the team have been eliminated by the Brother Martin Crusaders every year since I’ve bowled at Shaw. Hopefully this year LHSAA moves to a power ranking system so the two best teams in Louisiana can stop eliminating each other before the Championship. This year in particular will be difficult for the eagles considering the team saw many seniors leave. Those seniors include: Dylan Chesterman, Matthew Collins, Dylan Desroches, Teddy Johansen, and Dion Holder. Four out of the five were starters for the Eagles. Even with graduated seniors, incoming students show much promise and the team will look to defend their 2-time undefeated district title.
