Burke School has Veteran's Day Program
By Matilde Leitao
The Veteran's Day Program was held on November 10 at Burke High School.
The program began with the posting of the colors and the singing of the National Anthem by the Burke High School All-State choir (Kaleb Well, Allie Stangle, Brecken Bartling, and Haley Benter).
The sixth grade class presented a poem and the third graders spoke about their heroes. Students in the fist grade to the fifth grade students sang "We Celebrate America." Jasmine Klein, Taron Serr and Lucas Eastland read their essays about America's gift to my generation.
The Burke High School Band performed "Marches of the Armed Forces," directed by Rachelle Stephens. The Burke High School Choir sang "American Hymn," led by Walker Rose. Joel Johnson was the guest speaker.
"I felt that the Veteran's Programs was a nice tribute for military friends and family. The school worked hard to put this program together. The band performance of the military marches highlighted each branch of the military. I was proud of the band students contributions to this program," stated Rachelle Stephens.
