Taos Weborg Reserve Champion

Emily Stukel Places Third in

Photo Competition

Taos Weborg competed in Las Vegas, Nevada for the Junior National Rodeo. He competed in the Saddle Bronc event. Taos ended up being the reserve champion, which is a 2 place finish. Kids from all over the nation went to compete in the event.

Emily Stukel competed in the South Dakota Public Broadcasting Photo Contest. She submitted her photo and ended up in 3rd place. Her photo will be in the 2018 SDPB calendar.

"It was hard to take this picture in terms of angle, and I had to think a lot about putting it in black and white when I submitted it," commented Emily Stukel.

Marketing Class Enters Business Plan Competition

The Marketing class submitted a business plan for the 2018 Business Plan Competition. Prizes range from $100 to $1,500 for placing in the top 10.

Topics that had to be covered in the business plan are business goals, the basic structure, general decisions, financing decisions, marketing decisions, and the product. If the class places in the top 6, they will go to Pierre and present in February.

The Marketing class which consists of Thomas Heath, Michael Preslika, Daniel Johnson, and Kaleb Wells, have been designing and making wooden flags.

"We are looking to keep the train rolling and win the small business competition in Pierre. Everyone has been working hard to produce flags and it will pay off," commented Michael Preslika.

The Burke Staff did multiple fundraisers to donate money to kids for seconds at lunch. They had a soup supper where they made $312, a 3 point shot where they made $68, a raffle making $205, and a jeans week which made $300. There was also community donations where $120 more was added.

Overall, the total donations collected were $1005. Thank you to everyone who supported the Angel Donations.
