Cougars Fall To Highlanders

Cougars kicked off the season against the Scotland Highlanders on August 18 at Bonesteel. It was a good night to play football but the Cougars took home a loss, 12-30.

Leading the Cougars was Brock Karbo with 58 rushing yards and 108 passing yards with a total of 156 yards. He had two touchdown passes to Tyrone Mizner. The defense was led by Brock Karbo and Kaleb Wells with 14 tackles each, and Wells had one quarterback sack.

"We will work hard to improve as we move into the second game vs. Gayville - Volin," head coach Mike Sebern commented.

Cougars Defeat the Raiders

On August 25 the Cougars traveled to Gayville to take on the Gayville - Volin Raiders. The game took two days to play due to lightning. The Cougars brought home a win 24 - 22.

Finn Hanson led the offense with 71 rushing yards with one touchdown. Brock Karbo had one rushing touchdown and was 9 of 18 passing, with on touchdown to Tyson Mayer. Finn Hanson led all tacklers with 16 tackles.

"Defense found a way to help us win knocking down a two - point conversion play to seal the win," commented coach Mike Sebern.

Cougars Come Up Short Against the Cowboys

Burke-SC traveled to Colome to take on the Cowboys on September 1. They came out on the losing end 14-64.

Quarterback Brock Karbo completed 6 out of 17 passes, with two touchdowns. Jaden Frank and Tyson Mayer each had one touchdown reception. Finn Hanson had four tackles, Darrin Witt and Brock Karbo had three tackles each to lead the defense.

"We did not respond the way we expect ourselves to do. We must work hard to improve," head coach Mike Sebern commented.

Cougars Can't Match the Jaguars

On September 8 the Cougars took on Corsica - Stickney for Bonesteel's Homecoming. Five turnovers doomed the Cougars for a 0-48 loss.

Finn Hanson had 48 rushing yards and Tyrone Mizner had 56 receiving yards. Leading the defense was Finn Hanson with 14 tackles and Kaleb Wells with 7 tackles and 1 quarterback sack.

Head coach Mike Sebern commented, " We continue to improve, but turnovers are making it hard for our offense to score points."
