“I have great respect for what you
have accomplished in graduating
from medical school and great hope
for what you will accomplish in your
careers, especially in Ohio. I challenge
you to follow the tradition these
older physicians have established,
providing high-quality, compassionate
care consistent with the heritage of
osteopathic medicine.”

- RICHARD VINCENT, M.B.A., CHIEF EXECUTIVE EMERITUS
OF THE OSTEOPATHIC HERITAGE FOUNDATIONS, TO THE
HERITAGE COLLEGE CLASS OF 2018
In late 2017, Richard Vincent, M.B.A., retired from our major benefactor, our namesake and
the organization he was instrumental in founding, the Osteopathic Heritage Foundations.
Under his new title of chief executive emeritus of the Foundations, we were honored to have
Mr. Vincent deliver the keynote address at Commencement 2018.
Mr. Vincent built a remarkable 47-year career on advancing osteopathic medical education
and research and improving health and quality of life for the people of Ohio and nationally.
He was a driving force behind the Foundations’ generous support of the Heritage College.
Under his leadership, the Foundations provided more than $123 million in support of the
Heritage College, including the Vision 2020: Leading the Transformation of Primary Care in
Ohio gift of $105 million in 2011, which was, at that time, the largest single gift to a college
or university in Ohio and the largest in support of primary care education in the United
States.
Mr. Vincent received our Phillips Medal of Public Service in 2000, and he was named an
honorary alumnus of the Heritage College in 2005.
