ALL-CAMPUS SUCCESS FOR WORKPLACE & OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE INCLUSION OFFICE OPENS AT EACH CAMPUS In April, the Heritage College celebrated the launch of its new Office of Inclusion with open house events on each of its three campuses. Calling the creation of the office one of the college’s most significant achievements during his tenure, Heritage College Executive Dean Ken Johnson, D.O., acknowledged the college’s longtime dedication to providing diversity-promoting initiatives. He also acknowledged the urgent need to grow and amplify these efforts within our medical school. With offices and staff on all three campuses, we are prepared to more fully understand changing demographics in Ohio and the nation and the crucial need to train diverse and culturally competent physicians. 21 This comes at a critical time for health care, for our college and for Ohio University. “Becoming a leader in diversity and inclusion” is a top strategic initiative of Ohio University President M. Duane Nellis, Ph.D. Faculty and staff of the Office of Inclusion are charged with developing and implementing strategies, programs and activities that advance diversity through educational learning experiences and cultural competency training for students, faculty and staff. They also provide critical administrative support to develop a more inclusive environment at every level of the college.
