TACKLING INFECTIOUS AND CHRONIC DISEASES IN ECUADOR With the June 2016 opening of Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador’s Center for Research on Health in Latin America, a longtime partnership between Ohio University and PUCE expanded. The new 100,000-square-foot, state-of the-art research facility can house 22 permanent research groups, as well as visiting researchers and students. The partnership between OHIO and PUCE is led by Heritage College Professor Mario Grijalva, Ph.D., who also directs the college’s Infectious and Tropical Disease Institute and the center in Ecuador.
