PBC Launches Esports
The Peach Belt Conference became the first
NCAA league, in any division, to begin an Esports
Championship season in 2017-18. From the
initial announcement of League of Legends as
the game, to the preseason and regular season,
the entire enterprise built towards the first-ever
in-person conference championship, which was
held at Georgia College in March of 2018. The
following stories chronicle the inception, growth
and realization of a ground-breaking new
championship.
