2017-18 PBC YEARBOOK Women’s Track & Field EMBRY-RIDDLE CAPTURES PBC WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD CROWN PEMBROKE, NC – Behind seven event titles, three from Kristin Metcalf, and two PBC meet records, the Embry-Riddle Eagles won the 2018 PBC women’s Track & Field Championship on Saturday in Pembroke, N.C. ERAU won the title with a PBC-meet record 219 points, overtaking second-day leader Nova Southeastern who finished second with 162. UNC Pembroke was third with North Georgia in fourth. Metcalfe was named the PBC Women’s Track Athlete of the Year after winning three events on Saturday. The sophomore claimed the 800m title in 2:19.00, the 400m in 55.23 and the 1,500m in 4:36.91. Embry-Riddle went on to capture four more titles including two meet records. Merari Coronado set a meet record in the shot put for ERAU with a toss of 14.18 meters. Ukeyvia Beckwith followed with a meet record in the high jump, clearing the bar at 1.66m. Kortney Gray won the women’s 110 hurdles for the Eagles in 14:31 seconds. Embry-Riddle closed the event with the title in the 4x400 relay as the team of Brown, Butts, Metcalfe and Beckwith turned in a time of 3:49.61. UNC Pembroke’s Jeanna Cube was named the Field Athlete of the Year. Perhaps the busiest woman at the event, the senior won the javelin, was second in the high jump, third in the long jump, fourth in the heptathlon and fourth in the 100-meter hurdles. North Georgia’s Abigail Kirkland was named the Freshman Track Athlete of the Year after winning the 400 meter hurdles. ERAU’s Phoebe Gustely was named the Freshman Field Athlete of the Year after winning with discus and finishing fourth in the javelin. 63
