2017-18 PBC YEARBOOK Young Harris Wins NCAA Region Title! BOCA RATON, Fla. | Seba Andreassen’s header 41 seconds into the second overtime gave Young Harris College a 3-2 win over No. 17 Lander University Friday (Nov. 17) afternoon at Billy Campbell Stadium on the campus of Lynn University in the third round of the NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer Championship. The Mountain Lions, who have defeated nationally ranked teams in each of their last three matches, won the Southeast Region title with the win as they improved to 14-3-2. The Mountain Lions advances to Sunday’s (Nov. 19) fourth-round match against either Lynn or the University of West Alabama at 1 p.m. The winner of that contest advances to the final four Nov. 30 in Kansas City, Missouri. The Bearcats ended their season at 13-4-3. Andreassen’s third match winner of the season was set up off a cross from Carl Brannstrom from inside the left side of the box. Andreassen, who has scored three times in the past two matches, then headed in the ball for his sixth goal of 2017. Playing two men down in the second half, Lander sent the match into extra time after Jordan Skelton converted a penalty kick with 46 seconds remaining in regulation after a hand ball in the box. It was the eighth goal of the season. Young Harris had taken a 2-1 lead in the early stages of the season half after Marco Micaletto scored his 10th goal of 2017 off a free kick from just outside the ball that bended into the top right corner of the goal. The Mountain Lions took a 1-0 lead at the 29:15 mark. Andreassen crossed the ball in from the right side of the box to Mikie Rowe at the left post. Rowe slotted the ball into the net for his ninth strike of 2017. Lander tied it up at 1 30 right before the half as Jamie Lunn knocked in a rebound of Sia Jamedar’s initial shot. Lander held an 11-9 margin on shots, although the Mountain Lions held a 6-5 edge on goal. Lander doubled up Young Harris on corner kicks 6-3.
