LOCAL BUSINESS TAX RECEIPTS & PERMITS
When establishing your business in Flagler County, you must
obtain a Local Business Tax Receipt (LBTR) from the city where
you intend to locate as well as filing with the County. In some
cases, you may be required to obtain a zoning permit prior to
receiving your LBTR. You can obtain both of these documents, as
well as a complete list of requirements from the city government
office where your business is located.

After you receive your city business license, you will need to

ZONING PERMITS
A zoning permit allows certain types of businesses to operate in
certain locations. Zoning approval is usually necessary before
you receive an LBTR. If you plan to work from your home, a
special permit or a zoning exception or variance is typically
needed. Zoning certification is usually processed at no charge.

STATE PROFESSIONAL & BUSINESS LICENSES
AND HEALTH PERMITS
Some 198-license categories require state licensing before an
LBTR will be issued. Examples include accountants, architects,
contractors/carpenters, cosmetologists, electricians, interior
design, plumbing, real estate agents, restaurants and

More than 100 types of businesses require a license, permit or
registration from the Florida Division of Consumer Services
(FDCS). These include travel agents, health studios,
telemarketing, dance studios, pawnshops, motor vehicle repair

Hotels, restaurants and other eating establishments are
regulated by the Florida Division of Hotels & Restaurants (FDHR)

Businesses planning to sell alcoholic beverages must apply for a

Retail food stores, food processing plants, and food storage and
distribution businesses are licensed through the Florida

FINDING EMPLOYMENT

ANNUAL FLAGLER COUNTY JOB FAIR
Each year, the Flagler County Department of Economic
Opportunity (FCDEO), CareerSource Flagler Volusia, Daytona
State College and the Flagler County Chamber hold the Flagler
County Job Fair. The most recent event, held in March 2017
brought in 44 plus businesses and more than 530 job seekers to
the Palm Coast Campus of Daytona State College.
Major employers including Coastal Cloud, Edward Jones
Financial Services, Beutlich Pharmaceuticals, Florida Hospital
Flagler and Flagler County Schools participated in the job fair.
According to Helga van Eckert, executive director of FCDEO, “the
job fair connects Flagler County’s talented workers with local
employers to help build a stronger and more diversified
economy.”
This year’s job fair included free workshops offered by
CareerSource Flagler Volusia. Sessions provided “dos and
don’ts” about dressing to impress, tips to create unforgettable
resumes and pointers to “ace” interviews.
