WASHINGTON OAKS GARDENS STATE PARK
Thehammock
As the name suggests , the area is nestled under a hammock of majestic oak trees . A delightful meandering portion of Scenic Highway A1A , The Hammock contains scenic , recreational and historic gems , as well as a number of locallyowned businesses including art galleries , hotels , motels and restaurants to suit many tastes and budgets .
HIGHLIGHTS
River To Sea Preserve and Varn Park are havens for native plants and animals , as well as natural phenomena . The preserve protects a rapidly disappearing maritime scrub environment and offers walking trails , natural vistas and ecological education opportunities along with public beach access .
Washington Oaks Gardens State Park is where a formal garden , a restored greenhouse , gift shop and a self-guided walking tour are just some of the unexpected surprises you will find . The park also offers weekly events as well as the newly added Music in the Gardens series .
