LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dear Rafters Fans,

Welcome to Witter Field as we celebrate the 24th anniversary of play in the Northwoods League, and the eighth season of action for the hometown Wisconsin Rapids Rafters.

Not only will you see some of the finest amateur baseball talent on the planet, Witter Field is also where you will likely see the future stars of professional baseball. Over the years, the Rafters have had 31 players drafted, and former Rafter pitcher Ben Heller made it the Major Leagues when he debuted with the New York Yankees in 2016. And, at the time this welcome letter was written the Northwoods League just had its 170th alum reach the Major League level.

Witter Field was also the site of the Northwoods League All-Star Game in 2015 and was a great experience for our players and fans. Many thanks to your community for making it a resounding success. Hopefully, you will help bring that same level of excitement to this year’s All-Star Game by attending our 23rd such game at Athletic Field in Wausau on July 17th!

I along with owners Steve Schmitt, Vern Stenman, and General Manager John Fanta, hope you enjoy today’s Northwoods League action, sample some ballpark fare at the concessions stands, or pick up a souvenir to show your loyalty to Wisconsin Rapids’ hometown team. Come back often to see some of the finest amateur baseball talent on the planet and, as always, have a great time out with the Rafters!

Sincerely,

Gary Hoover
