WI Rapids Rafters Program | Page 19

The Rafters are proud to be a part of the Wisconsin Rapids community and strive to enhance the fan experience at Witter Field each season. This year fans will notice a few key updates to various areas of the stadium.

You can’t miss it! It’s large and it will forever change your in-game experience at Witter Field during Rafters games. Meet the Aspirus Riverview Hospital & Clinics video board! The Rafters have partnered with Aspirus Riverview Hospital & Clinics to add a new 12.5 foot x22 foot video board next to the existing scoreboard. Between inning promotions, hat shuffles, player photos and stats, and much more will be able to be displayed for the enjoyment of everyone. Aspirus Riverview will also be sponsoring a FREE Community Movie Night on Friday, August 11th at 7pm featuring the film Finding Dory. The entire community is invited to bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy the movie.

In 2010, the Rafters, in conjunction with the City of Wisconsin Rapids, installed 228 refurbished stadium seats from Milwaukee County Stadium and Wrigley Field to the seating bowl. The seats became known as the Solarus Founders Club and have been a staple of rows five and six in the grandstand, providing an all-inclusive experience for each and every Rafters game. This offseason, the Rafters installed 64 additional box seats from Camden Yards in Baltimore along with food and beverage rails, to sections C, D, and E behind home plate. The additional seating additions will allow Solarus Founders Club ticket holders to exchange their tickets to different games and retain a stadium seat more often, while also making more box seats available to single game ticket buyers.

Fans will notice a new addition to the first base side of the park, specifically on the Northwoods League Foundation Accessible Seating Area this year. There has been a new awning installed to protect fans viewing games from this area from the weather elements that at times plagued them in past seasons. The new awning addition was made possible by the Northwoods League Foundation.

Rosco’s Smokehouse, a food venue which was located under the main grandstand for first seven Rafters seasons, is no longer in exsitence. The Rafters welcome Kathy’s Drive In for the 2017 season. Former restaurant owner Kathy Hanneman is featuring some classic staples that were a part of her business for many years and that are now available at all Rafters home games. Some items that community members have grown to enjoy over the years that are now served at the ballpark include Kathy’s Famous Fish Fry, Hot Beef, Ground Beef BBQ Sandwiches, Burgers, Potato Salad, Coleslaw, and Point Root Beer Floats. Make sure to stop by Kathy’s Drive In, located right under the Witter Field grandstand and enjoy a delicious home cooked meal

If you are wondering what the deer stand is doing sticking up above the left center field fence, we have your answer! The Northwoods League completed their two year project of installation of HD video into all 20 ballparks and Witter Field was equipped with the feature prior to the 2017 season. The Northwoods League provides a full season, half season, and daily viewing package that allows those fans who are unable to attend the games to view their favorite players from home or on their mobile device.
