Mini Horse Heroes Foundation Mini Therapy Horses Mini Horse Heroes, was started over 15 years ago to honor the life of Port Authority Police Officer Ken Tietjen, who gave his life at the World Trade Center on 9/11. The Foundation’s main focus is assisting children and first responders in need. Mini Therapy Horses is my heart and soul and our program is growing daily. We’re so proud to be an integral part of Mayor Garcetti’s Crisis Response Team and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Mini Horse Heroes owns, handles and trains some of the country’s smallest police horses and travels throughout New Jersey and the tristate NYC area to provide comfort, support and therapy to families and communities who are experiencing trauma or tragedy, with a focus on children of first responders who have lost their lives in the line of duty. From inspiring children to volunteer and help others, to bringing joy and relief to children and families staying at Ronald McDonald House, to veterans in the Intensive Care Unit at the Veterans Hospital, to comforting survivors of the San Bernardino shootings, Mini Therapy Horses is available 24/7 with their teams of highly trained mini horses and handlers. The organization has also fulfilled final wishes for terminally ill patients, bringing comfort and lasting memories. Mini Horse Heroes is home to therapy horses, and brothers, Honor and Hamlet. Honor is named after FDNY Rescue 1, which suffered heavy losses on 9/11. Hamlet, who has traveled the country comforting those in need and is also a well-recognized Breyer model horse. Victoria Nod
