2016 Miniature Horse WORLD Issues December 2016 Volume 32, Number 6 | Page 10

treasurer’s report by Heather Ward W e have now completed the first ten months of the 2016 fiscal year and our loss for that period is $45,828 which is about $51,000 more than budgeted for the period but definitely an improvement from the financial repor t in September. It comes mostly from an extraordinary increase of $39,352 in the Texas Event Grant calculation over the budgeted amount of $20,000 and is a result of our increased World Show activities. The real good news however, is that the World Show was very successful and produced net income of more than double last year and the largest net income in the past 10 years. We owe a huge thanks to our show manager, Laura Mullen 8 Miniature Horse World D E C E M B E R 2 0 16 and to our tireless President, Joe Kahre, as well as many others who went out of their way to make it a very fun show with lots of enthusiasm that we can hopefully capitalize on in future years. The key financial impact items for our organization continue to be registrations, membership, and our Miniature Horse World magazine. The Executive Committee and your Directors continue to examine areas where improvements can be made. Registration numbers are down about 5.5% but the net income amount from registrations is only down about 1% due primarily to revenue from the Hardship Program. The Amnesty Program which allows horses that have had their registration revoked to be brought from Temporary to Permanent without the owner being penalized continues to be available and a coupon is on the home page of the website and we hope that members will take advantage of this opportunity. Our Miniature Horse World magazine like many other publications has declined in net revenues over the past several years and is currently down 20% from the same period last year. We are working on a schedule for printing in 2017 which reduces the number of publications being printed to four seasonal issues. Communications between times will be by emails and eblasts. Good news also is that the Super Mini Benefits program is now in place with the preliminary Program Partners who will provide discounts of up to 20% to AMHA members. Information is on the home page of our website and we encourage members to contact the email provided for the list of codes to obtain these member discounts.
