2016 Miniature Horse WORLD Issues August/September 2016 Vol 32, #4 | Page 10

treasurer’s report by Heather Ward T he first six months of the year have been completed and our loss for that period is about $2,700 more than the same period in 2015. While this is close comparing the two years, we had in fact budgeted for additional revenues to have been achieved and are about $19,000 behind that budget amount. The key financial impact items have been and continue to be registrations, membership, and our Miniature Horse World magazine. Our registrations have been modestly up over the first five months, however in June we were down from the prior year and overall we are behind by about 5%. Hopefully this is just temporary and we will see some more positive results in the last half of the year from things like the Hardship Program, the Amnesty Program and Non-Member fees. Our Miniature Horse World magazine like other publications has declined in net revenues over the past several years and is currently down about $9,800 from budget. There are several proposals being considered at the July Board of Directors meeting and we hope we will be able to reverse the trend this year. As well, the new Digital version of Miniature Horse World is available and very affordable and we would encourage you to contact Melissa at the office to discuss the options. The Hardship program for AMHR permanent registered 60 month and older horses is starting to be utilized but much more slowly than was anticipated in the current budget. There have been some applications processed at local shows where the required measuring and inspections were available and we hope to see many more at the Regional shows as well as at the World show. The application form is on our website and is quite straight forward, however if you are having any difficulties, please contact the registration department at AMHA and/or your regional Director as there are many people out there who are more than willing to help facilitate this process. The current Amnesty Program will be in place until the end of 2016 and it allows horses that have had their registration revoked to be brought from Temporary to Permanent without the owner being penalized. A coupon is on the website so please take advantage of this opportunity to bring your horses current and pass on the information to others as well. Also, the new Work Order outlines non-member fees that are available in order that sold horses can continue to be registered for temporary to permanent, new ownership, and stallion to gelding. We are hoping that this will bring the registry more current as well as avoid a horse’s registration eventually becoming revoked. Enjoy the summer with your horses, help support your local shows by showing or volunteering and hope to see many of you at the Championship Shows coming soon. Your advice wanted!
