president’s message
by Joe Kahre
Dear Friends,
W
president, I can’t say enough in regards to
just how valuable all these elements are to
the forward motion of our Association, and
how grateful I am for all the skills these volunteers have to offer both on the board of
directors and the executive committee.
As members, you have put together a very
diverse and intelligent group of people to
represent and work for YOU on the Board
of Directors. The Executive Committee that
was voted in by YOU at the convention is
one that carries experience, knowledge, new
outlooks, excellent work ethic, passion, and
a camaraderie that is a blessing for the wellbeing of the AMHA. As the newly elected
I want to stress to all of our members that
the future and the growth of AMHA is in
ALL of our hands. When you refer to
“AMHA” it is not the wonderful office staff,
it is not the board of directors, it is not the
elected offices, it is YOU, the members. We
are all in this together, and we all want the
best for this association that offers us many
wonderful opportunities with our Miniature
horses. I am reaching out and challenging
each of you as members to make efforts in
the promotion of what we have to offer. Go
e have much to accomplish. A
huge amount of positive steps
and ideas already in motion, and
thankfully we are blessed with many talents
and people to make the necessary steps in
moving forward for OUR American Miniature Horse Association.
out of your way to do local seminars, to be
in parades, to expose the local 4-H clubs
to your Miniatures, encourage and invite
people to become members, in short, get
out and be seen and let the news of AMHA
and our talented, little horses resound. All
of us involved with these very special equines
have learned just how addicting they are. It
is amazing how one horse turns to two, then
three, etc. Help us spread that addiction to
those around us, and not just sit back and
wait for the board or a committee to keep
the association, OUR association, afloat and
growing. Remember a little effort by many
is far easier and more effective than a lot that
is done by a few.
We are coming out of the convention with
a GREAT set of committees. We have good
people heading up these committees and
working for us. If you are called upon for
help, please lend a hand! My task at hand is
to try to make sure the excitement continues
from the discussion stage to the “we made it
happen” stage. This will be difficult, but I
have faith in the people that stepped forward
to volunteer their time, energies, and oftentheir finances.
2016 is a pivotal, important year ahead of
us. Let’s all join hands, work together, help
each other, and make AMHA soar to new
and greater heights! The people that I have
come in contact with via this Miniature horse
world are some of the best there are. You all
deserve much success in whatever your endeavors might be.
I must also share that I am not interested
in listening to negativity. It typically carries
you one direction. Negativity is the food
for failure. That is a direction that I am
not interested in traveling. Positive thinking
and positive actions, on the other hand, will
mean positive results. A fellow horse enthusiast that many have admired for years, Mr.
Patrick Swayze has been quoted as saying:
“How do you nurture a positive attitude
when all the statistics say you are a dead man?
You go to work!” Let’s ALL get to work!
Today, I come before this great membership
and tell you I am SO incredibly humbled to
hold this position, and I ask for your prayers
daily to guide me and the BOD in making the correct and wise decisions that lie
ahead for us. I am here to do all I can do
for AMHA, which as I said at the beginning
of this writing, is for YOU…..the members.
God’s Blessings,
4 Miniature Horse World
