WORLD SHOW NEWS
Updates for the World Show which
were voted on and approved at the
2016 Annual Meeting are as follows:
n
I t was confirmed that the 2016
AMHA World Show will be an 8-day
event (one day shorter) running
from September 24 – October 1. The Youth Show will be
Saturday & Sunday (September 24-25), the Amateur Show,
Futurity & a few specialty classes will run from Monday –
Wednesday (September 26-28) and the Open Show will run
Thursday – Saturday (September 29 – October 1).
n
T
he AMHA World Show will be changing to the 3-judge
system we use at Regionals. There will be three teams of
three judges (one panel for youth, one panel for amateur
and one panel for open).
n
A
new point qualification system was passed and
implemented for 2016. (Details of this point system
are in your December 2015 issue of Miniature Horse
World). This new system should offer a more attainable
number of required points, thereby reducing the need for
alternative qualifying forms and possibly allowing members
opportunity to qualify more than one horse in a particular
class so that they have a “backup” in case that horse should
fall ill, be sold, etc.
n
T
he Stock-Type Division was passed and will be considered
rated classes for 2016. Eight stock-type classes will be
offered at the 2016 AMHA World and Regional Shows.
Those classes are: Youth Stock-Type Geldings, Youth
Stock-Type Mares, Amateur Stock-Type Stallions, Amateur
Stock-Type Mares, Amateur Stock-Type Geldings, Open
Stock-Type Stallions, Open Stock-Type Mares and Open
Stock-Type Geldings.
n
T
he Mare & Foal class was removed from the AMHA
World & Regional class offerings and put in moratorium
due to lack of entries.
n
A
dult Special Needs Exhibiting A Stallion or Gelding and
Adult Special Needs Exhibiting A Mare were removed
from the AMHA World & Regional class offerings and
put in moratorium due to lack of entries. Adult Special
Needs Exhibiting A Mare Or Gelding was released from
moratorium and will be offered at the 2016 AMHA World
and Regional Shows.

COMMITTEE REPORT
by Kim Sweatt
The World Show Committee was formed several months
ago to seek alternative sites for the World Show. Under the
expertise and guidance of Chair Laura Mullen, the seven
members represent all three regions of the U.S.—Sami
Scheuring and Kim Sweatt (West), Lisa Hawkins and Lonnie
Perdue (Central), Sid Hutchcraft and Sherry Crowe (East).
The committee would like to take this opportunity to share
the “process” we employed to evaluate potential alternative
sites for the World Show. It’s our hope that AMHA
members will gain a better understanding of general facility
costs and how they compare with our current venue in Fort
Worth, Texas. Laura Mullen has the complete results of the
site search. If you have more specific questions after reading
this report, please contact Laura at
