Farm Direct WIC and Senior Programs
The Farm Direct program provides eligible families
and seniors checks to be used between June 1 –
October 31st, 2016 specifically to purchase locally
produced fresh fruit and vegetables directly from
authorized farmers at farm stands and farmers
markets.
WIC
Eligible families in the Women, Infant and Children
(WIC) program receive $20 worth of green Farm
Direct checks from their local clinic through classes
or appointments to purchase fresh and frozen fruit
and vegetables from authorized farmers at a farm
stand or farmers’ markets.
Seniors
Low-income seniors are eligible to receive checks to
purchase fresh locally grown fruit, vegetables and
cut herbs. In late April, seniors are notified by mail if
they are eligible to participate in the program.
They must sign and return the “response card”.
Randomly selected seniors will receive $24 in checks.
