Additional 2016 Highlights

+ Current improvement projects at Alamo Square , South Park , Randall Museum , Glen Park , 17th and Folsom , Garfield Turf Replacement , West Sunset Playground , Mansell Corridor in McLaren Park
+ Began the community visioning process for McLaren Park improvement project
+ Launched new registration system for recreation program participants , leading to faster online registration ; mobile-ready activity registration ; online swim passes purchases and renewals ; and new monthly and annual swim passes
+ Volunteer Services Division supported and coordinated 180,000 hours of service to our parks and recreation centers , a $ 4.9 million in-kind donation from community members , corporate groups and youth service learning programs citywide .
+ Celebrated Coastal Clean Up Day and regular ongoing volunteer workdays at Ocean Beach in collaboration with GGNRA , hosted East Side Coastal Clean Up at Heron ’ s Head Park with Port of SF and Bay . org .
+ Reduced department ’ s potable irrigation by 38.6 % from the 2013 baseline . Overall water conservation from all sources is down 37.3 % from the 2013 baseline .
+ 60 landscape staff were trained and certified in the Bay Friendly landscape certification program .
+ Golden Gate Park staff planted 90 trees throughout the park through a grant from the San Francisco Garden Club , celebrating its 90th anniversary
+ Diverted 2,631 tons of material from away from landfill
+ Reached agreement with the San Francisco Deltas professional soccer team to play at Kezar Stadium
+ Hosted major community events in our parks , including the Golden State Warriors Finals Game 4 viewing party at Civic Center in partnership with Another Planet Entertainment ; the Stern Grove Festival ; Hardly Strictly Bluegrass ; Saturday in the Park McLaren Music Festival ; and Outside Lands , which resulted in $ 3.1 million to the department
+ Commemorated the 25th Anniversary of the AIDS Memorial Grove
+ The Trust for Public Land names Rec and Park one of the nation ’ s Top-5 park systems
+ Since 2010 , Rec and Park has reduced its total use of Tier I / most hazardous pesticides by 91 %.
+ In partnership with the Mayor ’ s Office and MTA , launched the Golden Gate Park Traffic Safety project to install speed humps in the park .
